Born in Ireland, raised in Australia, and now based in New York City, he has released four critically acclaimed albums and performed with artists such as Glen Hansard, Odetta, Damien Rice, The Pogues’ Ron Kavana, and Roy Book Binder among many others.
Known for his rustic authenticity and poetic songwriting, he has been praised as “impeccably gifted” by Big City Rhythm and Blues. His music echoes the influence of 60s folk revival legends like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan. Cross has released five critically acclaimed albums, including Old Songs For Modern Folk which reached #2 on the National Folk DJ Albums Chart. In 2020, Cross released his latest album titled The Life & Times of James “The Rooster” Corcoran. The songs were inspired by James “The Rooster” Corcoran, a 19th-century Irish-American gang leader in New York City, whom Cross is a direct descendant of. It was praised by PopMatters, who described it as “a subtle but powerful portrait,. Brooklyn Vegan called it “Compelling [and] timeless.”
On his Australian tour he will feature his most recent album, ‘A place where songs come to live’ (2025) as well as a rich serving from his earlier work and other classics. If you like fine writing, beautiful singing and impeccable instrumental playing, don’t miss this gem of a performer.
