Christine Collister is a Manx folkblues and jazz singer-songwriter. She was born and grew up on the Isle of Man and first came to public attention in 1986 as the singer of the theme song for the BBC‘s television adaptation of Fay Weldon‘s book The Life and Loves of a She-Devil. In 1985, she joined the Richard Thompson Band, singing with Thompson on many songs which had been previously performed as duets with ex-wife and former collaborator Linda Thompson. Collister quickly became the was a part of this band for four years, contributing vocals on six albums and participating in several world tours. Since then her career has taken her across the globe many times, producing numerous CDs, as a solo artist, in duets and other formats, in a career that is simply too illustrious and complex to reduce to a few lines. (But tee her entry in Wikipedia for details).

Just one short illustration: She was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 30 September 2019 in a concert celebrating the 70th birthday of Richard Thompson, along with David GilmourMartin CarthyEliza CarthyHugh CornwellOlivia ChaneyMaddie PriorLoudon Wainwright III, and other famous UK folk-rock stars. Collister proved a highlight of the evening with the Financial Times reviewer reporting ” ..best of all perhaps was Thompson and Collister reviving the protest ballad ‘Sweetheart On the Barricade’… ” and… “Collister with Thompson on ‘Ghosts in the Wind’ was a thrilling highlight …

Christine is also a stunning songwriter and composer of a body of work that is hauntingly beautiful . Most recently, she released Children of the Sea in 2024, a project of nine original songs and an accompanying book inspired by Manx folkloreChildren of the Sea was supported by grants from the Isle of Man Arts Council and Culture Vannin and was the focus of Collister’s 2024 UK tour.

On stage, she met her match with Michael Fix, who is Australian guitar royalty and without doubt one of the most outstanding and internationally recognised instrumentalists this country has ever produced. He began performing in his home town of Wollongong at the age of 12 and was later ‘discovered’ by the legendary Tommy Emmanuel.  Michael played with the acclaimed folk band Hat Trick, and later with Graeme Connors.  He has won the Golden Guitar Award at Tamworth three times and has won numerous other awards in Australia and overseas.  Over the past two decades, he’s released nearly twenty albums together with several singles and EPs, and has established himself globally as a leading performer, appearing at festivals and concert venues across Australia, Europe (Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and elsewhere, and Asia.

Whether performing in intimate theatres or at major festivals, Christine and Michael deliver a live experience that’s emotionally resonant, musically uplifting, and joyously human.

Their forthcoming album — due for release in 2026 — follows two warmly received earlier collaborations. It will feature a lovingly curated set of songs, full of feeling, finesse and surprise.
